What are breadth courses? ›

Breadth = other subject courses you need to complete your degree(ex. Fine Arts, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, etc.) These are usually limited and there's a breadth list that tells you which count.

Students who fall below a 2.0, either at the end of any quarter or for the total graded courses taken in the University, are placed on academic probation. These categories are indicated clearly on your transcript.

In order to enroll, you will need to have taken the Mathematics Advisory Exam, or have another Math placement through AP/Transfer credit. Please visit placementtest.ucr.edu for more information on the placement test. The program accepts applicants on a first come, first serve basis.

All courses shall be graded on the basis of A (distinction, indicating exceptional achievement), B (high pass, indicating more than minimal competence but less than exceptional achievement), C (pass, indicating competence), D (marginal pass), or F (fail).

The aim of breadth requirements is to help students gain knowledge and understanding across a broader range of disciplines; it enables them to develop insight, experience, and new ways of thinking in areas distinct from their main fields of study.

If your GPA in any quarter falls below 1.50 or, if after two terms on academic probation, your GPA is less than 2.00, you are "Subject to Dismissal." If you receive a letter of dismissal and wish to appeal the decision, please complete the Petition to Appeal Academic Dismissal.

If you fail a class, you'll get a 0 on your transcript — and that can bring down your GPA. Failed classes count toward your GPA, though some colleges do not count pass/fail classes in your GPA calculation.

Employers like to see your GPA on your resume, especially those first few years after college. Failing a class, or classes, can drastically impact your GPA, which could have an adverse effect on your ability to find a job.

Math is Necessary for Nursing

So depending on your area of expertise in nursing, you may be required to use basic arithmetic and algebra on a daily basis. If you had a bad experience or struggled with math as a kid, you've probably done a good job of avoiding it most your life. But nursing school isn't high school.

A CNAS Learning Community (LC) is a small group of CNAS first-years with similar majors and interest, who take their math and science courses together throughout their entire first-year at UC Riverside. Our program reserves these courses for our participants, setting them on the right track for a 4-year graduation.

To meet minimum requirements, you must earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher (3.4 for non-residents) in “a–g” courses taken during grades 10 and 11 (including summers before and after), weighted by a maximum of eight semesters of UC-approved honors points.

The acceptance rate at UC Riverside is 69.1%.

This means the school is moderately selective. The school expects you to meet their requirements for GPA and SAT/ACT scores, but they're more flexible than other schools.

Repeating Courses

Students may repeat up to 16 units of UC coursework in which they received a "D" or an "F" for the purposes of improving their UCR grade point average. Only the first 16 units of coursework that is later repeated will be excluded from the GPA.

One useful approach to organizing and describing college-level learning is to think about the breadth and depth of the learning. Breadth of learning refers to the full span of knowledge of a subject. Depth of learning refers to the extent to which specific topics are focused upon, amplified and explored.

What is a Degree Breadth Elective? All baccalaureate degree programs at Sheridan must include Liberal Arts and Science courses outside of the main discipline of study for the particular degree to satisfy the breadth requirements stipulated by the Post Secondary Education Quality Assessment Board for degrees.

A passing grade will give you course credit, while a no pass will give you none. All major requirements must be taken for a letter grade (this includes the breadth requirements for some majors). Additionally, the number of P/NP units must be less than one-third of the total units completed at UC Berkeley.
