Extremely excited to return to the Toy Fair after years, but boy, was I in for a surprise! Went through the lengthy registration process only to be shocked when I reached the checkout. The price tag for attending as a professional was a jaw-dropping $𝟮𝟵𝟵! How can The Toy Association justify this steep price? It got me thinking about those eye-watering salaries that Gene Murtha mentioned in his posts. Now, I get it - we all need to cover costs and ensure a successful event, but let's compare it to Maison & Objet in Paris, where people pay €60 to enter. (By the way, if any of you are interested, I have 20 free tickets left for Maison & Objet, thanks to my partner exhibiting for her ako & sila business there. Just drop me a message!) $299 for the Toy Fair seems way, way, way over the top in comparison.I understand that organising such an event comes with expenses, especially when dealing with unionised labour for handling goods. Last time I checked, the cost of exhibiting was high compared to Nuremberg and London. If I were to invest that kind of money in exhibiting, I'd want to see as many visitors as possible. Can't we find a way to qualify visitors from registered businesses without charging them this eye-watering amount? Let's encourage a vibrant and inclusive Toy Fair that brings together industry professionals without breaking the bank.Together, we can find a fair balance that benefits everyone involved and makes this event a grand success!#toys #toyindustry #toybusiness ----------------------🔺 I am Thierry.🔺Helping your toys or stationery company develop international sales.🔺My team and I help you to source in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and India. 🔝 Connect with me

🦁 "You have to shoot or you can't score." So we shoot an entry for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. In the vast ocean of advertising, as a small agency of 5, we often find ourselves swimming with bigger, more formidable fish. Competition at ad festivals is fierce, and the spotlight often shines brighter on those with bigger clients and budgets. But we truly believe in the power of ideas and the spirit of creativity. It's not about the size of your budget, the cost of your case film or the fame of your clients; it's about the passion that drives your work, the authenticity of your message and the creative courage to think differently. This year, we are putting money on our racehorse in the Outdoor/Live Advertising and Events category. Harold's Barber & Tattoo has opened a barbershop right on the forest trail. That's because tourists are the most vulnerable to tick bites. In Slovakia we have an epidemy of tick-borne diseases for last 3 years. A fresh haircut helps to spot the tick on the head easily and remove it soon. The campaign led to an increase in new regular customers at the salon itself. The Forest Barber has already been recognized on the global stage - shortlisted at Epica Awards & PHNX and bronzed at The Caples Awards Ltd.Fingers crossed 🤞 We want to hear a roar!Film: https://lnkd.in/eB8XS8U6#CannesLions #creativity #advertising #outdoor #barber #healthcare

I may get killed for this, but...is Hong Kong back? Well, did it ever actually leave? Yes and No!There are actually 2 Hong Kong Toy Fairs happening at the same time in the month of January. There is the big convention centre on the Island (#HKTF) where primarily Chinese suppliers show product and then at the other side of the harbour there is TST/Kowloon where most international toy companies gather around Mody Road for what I call the #ModyRoadShow (aka #MRS). This is an example how the LA Show and the American Toy Fair could actually function along each other in the same city during the same time. More about this in a next post. And what about you, #NicoBlauw with your big mouth; what made you go to HK in January? Well personal circ*mstances made me cancel my November/December factory trip to China & HK and therefore forced me to be here in January. To my surprise I was welcomed by HK customs and received with open arms in TST...I did not try to hide in HK last week and I was positively surprised with the outcome. Now to be very honest: here at BOTI Global Ltd. we do have some fantastic new products to show, so this was a good test before the upcoming London and Nurnberg Toy Fair. So, yes I have attended Hong Kong last week against my initial principles...this post is therefore my (partial) mea culpa. To be honest...HK is not back, but it is still there...till a certain degree. And the craziness hasn't left either. In the time the world is looking for durable and safe products, one (Italian) company in the industry lives by the slogan "Plastic is Fantastic"...of course their livelihood is selling dolls...but somehow for them the durable message didn't come across. For sure there were less visitors than before covid. The North Americans were missing, very few Australians wandered around and some Latam countries showed up. We saw mainly Asian, Middle East and European customers and in all fairness: less is more. Less people, means more time to meet. Pure quality time. This was the major plus for last's weeks fair.. Yes, there was excitement and enthusiasm. After a dark year for many, being in HK at the start of the new year was an enlightenment. Was this enthusiasm driven by the "come back" to HK and leaving a difficult year behind? Or was it the new innovations people saw that made them excited?.... I believe it was a little bit of both.

As we all spend so much time selecting, preparing, merchandising, and finally presenting at XXX number of trade shows, it is essential to close with a bang, a boom, and a bing bang boom…Granted, very few of us have couture money, but we can always leverage a talented veteran or a local talent to leave everybody thinking, ‘WOW.’Why not?P.S., it’s really time for trade shows to abandon booths and the aimless milling around. Instead, brands should be allocated stage time to present their brand story and the applicabke products. Why not?https://lnkd.in/gt6cRUFf
